About the drug

Cannabis affects people differently this will depend mostly on how much and how often you use, the quality and strength of the cannabis, where you use and how you are felling at the time i.e depressed, stressed.

  • Usually sold in weight.

    • Buds - £25 per 1.8-2g

    • Herbal - £25 per 2g

  • Smoked via a joint, bong, lung, pipe or vape.

    Can be added to food most common cakes/brownies or mixed into any other foods.

    Can be bought as jelly sweets or most recently vape liquids (See vaping THC)

    • Increases your pulse-rate

    • makes your eyes become red.

    • can make you feel sleepy as if things are slowing down

  • You can become addicted to cannabis when used regularly. It can affect both your physical and mental health.

    Other dangers can include:

    • smoking cannabis increases risk of lung and throat cancer as well as chronic bronchitis

    • make you feel sick also knows as a whitey

    • affects your co-ordination, this is especially important when you are doing things like driving or manual work as it could affect your ability to react to situations and others may be injured

    • affects your short term memory use -have problems concentrating and learning new information

    • become sluggish and unmotivated

    • can affect your moods especially when not available

    • make you feel more anxious

    • can affect fertility

    • become paranoid

    • experience mild hallucinations if they take particularly strong cannabis

    • Empty bottles with holes in the side, cigarette skin packets

    • Increased appetite known as the munchies after use

    • Depending on how they take it, you may notice a strong smell on their cloths or in a room.

    • Become withdrawn not wanting to go out

    • Perform badly in exams - impacts the part of the brain we use for learning and remembering things.

    • Issues around finances – borrowing money from friends & family, getting into debt, selling items they own, money going missing, getting involved in crime to cover their drug costs.

    • Excessive smells to mask odours (Air Freshener, Deodorant)
